The Guarding Block is a very versatile movement and a traditional stance for free-sparring. The technique is performed in a back stance, one hand guarding your chest and the other toward your opponent. Both forearms are positioned at the same angle. The forward hand should be close enough to your face that is can be used to guard it, but not so close that the opponent can push your hand into your face.
